Shepherd University has two openings for an Assistant Athletic Trainer.
This is an 12-month appointment for a certified Athletic Trainer. The athletic trainer is responsible for helping provide medical services to 15 Division II athletic teams. Shepherd is a Division II institution beautifully located in the eastern part of West Virginia. We reside in the rural historical town of Shepherdstown, while still only having a 1 ½ hour drive to explore Washington DC or Baltimore. Shepherd is a part of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference, a very competitive and successful conference in the Atlantic Region.

(2) primary sports coverage: Volleyball and Women's Basketball
Job Duties:
Provide comprehensive medical services to athletic teams as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer, Assist with supervision of practices and games. Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with all EMR information for student-athletes. Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in help with student-workers and intern students. Electronic documentation of all patient encounters. Communicate with physicians and coaching staff regarding injury status of athletes.
Minor tasks may include: Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in purchasing, budgeting, and maintenance of supplies and equipment for the athletic training facility. Assist in a clean environment in the athletic training room. Assist in other duties as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer and/or Athletic Director.
Appointment to this position will be contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
Minimum Qualifications:
BOC Certified Athletic Trainer
Bachelor’s Degree
CPR certification
Eligible for West Virginia State Licensure
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Experience working with a collegiate football program
Salary:
$50,000
