The University of South Alabama Sports Medicine Department Graduate Athletic Training Intern Fellowship will be utilized to provide sports medicine coverage for intercollegiate NCAA Division I FBS, Sun Belt Conference Member.
Sport Assignment Football.
Position Responsibilities:
• Experience daily athletic training procedures for the University’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions as necessary.
• Develop educational preparations for daily practices and games through conditioning and prevention of athletic injuries and development of rehabilitation programs.
• Assist with the coordination and scheduling of preparticipation physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
• Participate and communicate with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student athlete needs.
• Utilize skills acquired from bachelor’s education to maintain records and documentation of injuries and treatments of athletes. Position Requirements:
• BOC Certification for athletic training or eligible
• Bachelors degree in athletic training education from an accredited institution
• CPR/First Aid Certification Position Benefits:
This position will have a commencement and conclusion time period for appointment.
• The appointment will be assigned for a 12 month period, with evaluation by the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for an additional 12 months, but the assignment shall not exceed a 24 month period, but exceptions may be granted depending on commencement or other approved circumstances.
• The position will provide continued educational experiences post bachelor degree
• The intern will receive a monthly stipend in the amount of $1,850.00 to cover living expenses. This will be paid on a monthly basis, deduction for federal and state taxes are applicable.
• These positions are exempt from overtime provisions.
• The intern will NOT receive tuition waiver, but will receive in-state tuition charges if classes are taken
• University will pay annual continuing education requirements without travel expenses, Alabama State Licensure, and NATA membership dues.
