Assistant Athletic Trainer - Softball

UT Health San Antonio is seeking a highly dedicated and competent athletic trainer to join the University of Texas San Antonio Softball team. This position offers the opportunity to work with Division I student-athletes while being employed by UT Health San Antonio and working full-time at UTSA.
Position: Assistant Athletic Trainer for Softball at UTSA
Reports to: Director of Sports Medicine UTSA and UT Health San Antonio Team Physician
Compensation: Commensurate with work experience plus comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, paid time off, teacher retirement or ORP, and continuing education funding
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive athletic medicine services for team practices and competitions, both home and away, primarily for the Softball program
- Deliver prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services for student-athlete injuries
- Design and implement pre-habilitation and post-injury rehabilitation programs for student-athletes
- Maintain accurate medical records and provide computerized documentation of athletic injuries, illnesses, and treatments
- Coordinate pre-participation examinations (PPEs) and medical paperwork for assigned athletes
- Schedule and coordinate physician appointments for assigned student-athletes
- Utilize various therapeutic modalities in the athletic training room
- Assist in daily management of the training room, including maintenance and storage of supplies and equipment
- Support the organization and administration of the athletic training facility
- Assist with overall administrative duties of the department
- Manage insurance-related matters for assigned athletes
- Ensure all assigned tasks comply with University, American Athletic Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Athletic Training with Board of Certification (BOC) certification
- Licensed Athletic Trainer in Texas (or eligible for licensure within 30 days of hire)
- Current CPR/AED certification
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an athletic trainer
- Collegiate softball experience
- Experience with various forms of manual therapy and soft tissue techniques
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
