    The University of South Alabama Sports Medicine Department Internship will provide continued academic educational instruction through sports medicine with the University of South Alabama's Football team. Internships provide students with opportunities to test their skills in an entry level setting, and the internship will bridge the gap between academia and clinical practice.

    Position Responsibilities:

    Experience daily athletic training procedures for the University’s athletic department, including attendance at scheduled team practices and home and away competitions primarily with the South Alabama Football team.

    Gain experience in the development of educational preparations for daily practices and games through conditioning and prevention of athletic injuries and development of rehabilitation programs.

    Assist with the coordination and scheduling of pre-participation physical examinations and medical referrals for student-athletes to determine their ability to practice and

    Participate and communicate with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual student- athlete

    Utilize skills acquired from Athletic Training education to maintain records and documentation of injuries and treatments of athletes.

    Participates in the medical assessment and medical coverage of USA summer athletic camps.

    Job Requirements

     BOC Certification for athletic training or eligible

    Bachelor’s/ Master's degree in athletic training education from an accredited institution

    CPR/First Aid Certification

    Position Benefits:

    This internship will have a commencement and conclusion time period

    The internship will be for a 12 month period, with evaluation by the Sr. Associate Athletic Director for consideration of an additional 12 months, but not to exceed a 24 month period. An exception to the 24 month period may be granted depending on commencement date. Internships may be terminated at any time at the discretion of Athletics

    The internship will provide continued educational experiences

    The intern will NOT receive tuition

    The University may pay annual continuing education requirements, Alabama State Licensure, and NATA membership
