    Description: The University of Mount Olive is seeking applicants for the Director of Sports Medicine position. The ideal candidate is someone that has been an assistant/associate at the collegiate level and looking for some quality career administrative experience. UMO is looking for a committed athletic trainer to restructure the sports medicine department and provide stability within the sports medicine department for assistant ATC’s as well as student-athletes. The Director of Sports Medicine will provide and/or supervise Medical Care of student-athletes under the direction of the Team Physician and the administrative direction of the Assistant Director of Athletics. This person will identify the professional medical service needs of the entire intercollegiate athletic department regarding the scheduling and coordination of Assistant Athletic Trainers for all team practices, competitions, and athletic training room treatment and rehabilitation. Responsibilities include coordinating and delivering athletic training services to University of Mount Olive student-athletes, including but not limited to: evaluation and treatment of injuries at practices and games, design and supervision of rehabilitation programs, administration of athletic training operations, and referral of injured student-athletes to the appropriate physicians according to guidelines in the standard operating procedures. Administrative responsibilities include budget oversight, inventory control, and electronic medical records management. This includes maintaining accurate up-to-date records of all injuries/illnesses and insurance claims. Coordinate the drug testing program for student-athletes. Perform duties in compliance with NCAA, Conference, and University rules and regulations. Responsible for developing new or maintaining in place department guidelines, policy and procedure in accordance with best practices and consensus statements.

    Qualifications:

    • Master's degree in athletic training or related discipline
    • Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated full-time professional experience working in a collegiate sports medicine setting, and must include one (1) or more years of supervisory and administrative responsibility preferred.
    • Have or eligible for North Carolina License
    • Nationally certified and in good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC). 
    • Adult CPR, First Aid and AED certification required.
    • Knowledge of NCAA rules.
    • Demonstrate interest and ability to work successfully with a diverse student-athlete population, while promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility and/or diversity.
