College Athletic Trainers' Society

BYU is seeking an Athletic Trainer to join our Athletic Training Staff. The primary sport assignment is Track & Field/Cross Country.

Job Description:

BYU's Athletic Trainers assist in providing athletic training services and health care for their BYU assigned teams (in this case, track & field/cross country); provide medical coverage of the BYU sports medicine facilities as assigned; and serve as a clinical instructor and supervisor for athletic training students in BYU's curriculum program in the Exercise Science Department.

Duties/Expectations:  

• Evaluate injuries/illnesses for assigned athletic teams
• Provide safe and effective treatments for injuries and illnesses within the certified athletic trainer's scope of practice and within the guidelines of sound medical practice
• Make referrals for athletes to other health care professionals as needed
• Communicate with coaches regarding the health status and limitations of athletes  
• Supervise student athletic trainers assigned to sport and serve as a clinical instructor to assigned students
• Counsel with athletes and parents regarding their health status and options available for treatment
• Maintain accurate records of injuries, illnesses, treatments, and referrals
