    Job Description

    Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), a Division I university and member of Conference USA, sponsors 17 intercollegiate athletic programs. MTSU is located in Murfreesboro, TN and is approximately 30 minutes from Nashville, TN. 

    The Sports Medicine Department at Middle Tennessee State University is currently seeking applications to fill one intern position for the Spring of 2024 and three positions available for a Graduate Assistantship position/Certified Internship position for the 2024-2025 academic year.     

    Primary Sport Responsibilities:

    1.    Intern Athletic Trainer - Track & Field (New Position)
    2.    Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer – Football and Men’s Tennis
    3.    Intern or Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer – Volleyball    
    4.    Intern Athletic Trainer – Football and Women's Tennis   

    The Intern Athletic Trainer with Track & Field will assist the full time ATC with the planning, organization, coordination, and management of proper health care to the Track & Field teams.  This position has an immediate start date and will end after the Track & Field season.  The position can be renewed for the 2024-2025 academic year.

    Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers and Intern Athletic Trainers assist with the planning, organization, coordination, and management of proper health care to MTSU’s student-athletes. This includes but is not limited to assisting in the operation of the athletic training facility, facilitating prevention programs, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries, practice and game coverage for assigned sports, and traveling with assigned athletic teams as well as other duties assigned by the sports medicine staff. 

    The Intern Athletic Trainer position(s) is/are for 12 months with a start date of May 27, 2024, and end date of May 30, 2025.  The Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer positions are 12-month appointments (renewable for a second year, based upon a performance evaluation by the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine).  The start date for the Graduate Assistant position will also be May 27, 2024.     

    Job Requirements

    Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer Benefits Include:  
    1.    Monthly stipend
    >First 12 months approximately $720 gross/month (August 1, 2024, to July 31, 2025)
    >Second 10 months approximately $810 gross/month (August 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026)
    2.    Hourly pay for Summer Months 
    3.    Full tuition waiver
    4.    Free Books
    5.    Housing stipend ($5,400 per semester) 

    Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainers Required Qualifications:
    1.    Bachelor’s degree in athletic training
    2.    NATA/BOC certified or exam eligible
    3.    Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners licensure or licensure eligible
    4.    AED/CPR certified
    5.    Admission to graduate school

    Intern Athletic Trainer Benefits Include:  
    1.    $12.00 hourly rate (no limit on the number or hours you can claim)

    Intern Athletic Trainers Required Qualifications:
    1.    Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in athletic training
    2.    NATA/BOC certified
    3.    Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners licensure or licensure eligible
    4.    AED/CPR certified
