Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is now accepting applications in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics for an Assistant Athletic Trainer. VCU is a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference. Under the general supervision of the Associate Athletic Trainer, the Assistant Athletic Trainer will coordinate at a high-level athletic injury prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation for VCU intercollegiate student-athletes. The sport assignment will be Baseball. Employee is required to keep accurate records of all treatments of athletic injuries and organize the training room.
Minimum hiring standards include:
- Bachelor’s degree;
- Two (2) years’ experience working within collegiate athletics.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to drive University vehicles.
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
- Able to work independently, as well as part of a team in a multi-tasking environment, with a strong sense of principles and ethics in regard to the welfare of the student-athletes.
Preferred hiring standards include:
- Experience working with Baseball within Division I Athletics.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours, which include nights and weekends.
- Advanced degree or experience, which equates to an advanced degree;
- Instructor certification in CPR/First Aid.
Required Licenses/ Certifications:
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications and NATABOC certification.
- Employee must be eligible for the Virginia Athletic Trainer License.
