    American University's Department of Athletics invites applications for a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer. Sport assignments are wrestling and men's XC/track.

    The Assistant Athletic Trainer; under the general supervision of the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine, is responsible for: 

    · Independent care and management of injuries and illnesses related to participation in intercollegiate athletics

    · Coordinating and implementing injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies to patients and assigned teams

    · Minimizing injury risk through education of patients and teams

    · Recommending accommodations for patients with functional or athletic limitations

    · Communicating with physicians, coaching staff and other involved university personnel regarding the medical status of patients

    · Carrying out medical care for assigned teams in accordance with recognized standard of care

    · Initiating and maintaining thorough and detailed electronic documentation of all patient encounters

    · Travel with assigned teams

    · Administrative and other duties as assigned by Assistant AD Sports Medicine and Associate Athletic Trainer

    Sport Responsibilities:

    • Wrestling and Men’s XC/Track

    Travel Responsibilities: 

    • Wrestling in-season home and way contests
    • Track conference championships on an alternating schedule
