    Job Summary:

    Eastern Washington University is currently seeking an Assistant Athletic Trainer.

    This position is housed in the athletic department and will report to the Assistant Athletic Director for Training Services. The Assistant Athletic Trainer supervises the care of student -athletes competing in the University's Athletic program, working primarily with assigned football, while working with additional programs at the discretion of their supervisor. The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries within the University's comprehensive sports medicine program.

    Required Qualifications:

    • Masters degree
    • Minimum 1 year certified experience
    • Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC) for Athletic Trainers
    • Licensed by the Washington State Department of Health upon hire.
    • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
    • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Athletic training experience at the NCAA Division I level.

    Job Duties:

    % of Time: 50

    Responsibility / Duty: Assist in the overall supervision of a Division 1 Sports Medicine Program.

    Prevention of athletic injuries and illnesses.

    Evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries.

    Providing counseling and education to student athletes.

    Work with doctors and other allied health professionals to deliver care to student athletes.

    Be the assistant athletic trainer for football and other assigned sports.

    Responsibility / Duty: Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for student athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete for assigned sports programs.

    Work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning staff to ensure safety in the design and implementation of fitness, nutrition and conditioning programs customized to meet individual athlete needs for assigned sports programs.

    Schedule and coordinate athletic training staff and students for coverage of all team practices and athletic competitions for assigned sports programs.

    Responsibility / Duty: Assist with coordination and scheduling for medical coverage for home and away competition for assigned sport programs.

    Assist with the supervision, education and recruitment of student athletic trainers and graduate assistant athletic trainer.

    Conditions of Employment:

    • Travel may be required a minimum of fifteen (15) nights per year for team competition.
    • Applicants must be able to maintain a thorough knowledge of NCAA and institutional rules, regulations and policies.
    • Rules compliance is an important responsibility of this position. Employee shall support and comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the NCAA, the Big Sky Conference, and other established bodies that govern intercollegiate athletics and the University.
    • This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
    • Mandatory Training: Upon hire you must complete required DEI, Hazing, Harassment and Title IX training, and other federal, state & university mandated trainings.
