    Lead Football Athletic Trainer

    Athletic Trainers provide consultation, advice, referrals, care and management of athletic injury and illness to SUNY Cortland Intercollegiate Athletes. A primary role of the athletic trainer is to work as member of the medical staff in providing prevention, preconditioning, conditioning, treatment, care, and rehabilitation for intercollegiate athletes. Athletic Trainers will work as a preceptor in the CAATE– accredited athletic training program.

    Our program emphasizes experiential learning and is committed to the practice-to-theory-to-practice model of teaching. A successful athletic trainer will have a commitment to inclusive excellence, equity, inclusion, diversity and social justice; passion for exercise and sport with well-developed understanding of the complexities of the clinical fields and intercollegiate athletics; desire to work with students from diverse backgrounds, and; a commitment to improving access to higher education for all students regardless of background and to educating students to become global citizens.
    Annual 10- months obligation dates are 8/01 – 5/31.

    Required Qualifications: 

    • ·       Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a professional athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
    • ·       Clinical or work experience in the practice of college or university athletic training service
    • ·       Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification
    • ·       New York State license as a Certified Athletic Trainer, or eligible upon appointment


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • ·       Master’s degree from a professional athletic training education program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).
    • ·       College or university athletic training service professional experience with a collision sport.
    • ·       College or university athletic trainer preceptor experience.
    • ·       2 or more years of post-certification/licensure professional experience.
    • ·       Current New York State license as a Certified Athletic Trainer.
