    Knox College invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a 12-month, benefits eligible position that starts July 1. Salary range for this position is competitive.  New graduates are welcome to apply.  The candidate will work on a staff of four full-time Athletic Trainers and a very engaged Team Physician.

     

    Knox College, a member of the Midwest Conference and NCAA Division III, is a vibrant community of scholar-teachers and students with a tradition of free inquiry, independent thought, and diverse perspectives. A group of highly qualified and trained Physicians and Athletic Trainers that work in a well-equipped 3,000 square foot facility staffs the Sports Medicine Program at Knox College.

    The Assistant Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Head Athletic Trainer/Associate Director of Athletics and assists in the direction of the health care system for all athletes at Knox College under the direction of the Team Physician ensuring that all athletes are medically cleared and safe for participation. The Assistant Athletic Trainer must follow all of the policies and procedures of the college and the Knox College Sports Medicine Program ensuring compliance with departmental, institutional, Midwest Conference (MWC) and NCAA rules and regulations in accordance with the State of Illinois Athletic Trainers’ Practice Act and National Athletic Trainers’ Code of Conduct.  


    This position provides injury and illness evaluation, referral, and the creation of treatment plans for the student-athletes at Knox College through clinical work in the athletic training facility and coverage of practices and competitions home and away.  The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist with the management of the programs’ operating budget, attend all required department meetings, complete all administrative assignments, and attend all required functions as designated by the Athletics Department and/or the Director of Athletics.  


    This position will supervise student-workers in the Athletic Training Facility. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student-athletes within the NCAA Division III philosophy. Collegial respect and professionalism are expected and required.



     

    The following are the qualifications for this position:     

      

    • Current Board of Certification for Athletic Trainer Certification in good standing
    • Member in good standing with the National Athletic Trainers’ Association
    • Current State of Illinois License in good standing or eligible
    • Current CPR and AED Certification
    • Prior Athletic Training experience at the NCAA collegiate level (DI, II, III)
    • Ability to plan, organize and develop treatment and rehabilitation plans and the ability to carry out emergency and injury care procedures.
    • Commitment to academic success and well-being/safety of student-athletes
    • Knowledge of and adherence to NCAA rules and regulations 
    • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects
    • An appreciation for a residential liberal arts education, respect for individual differences, openness to the values and opinions of others, and flexibility to adapt to constant change.


    The following are the preferred qualifications for this position:


    • Master’s Degree 
    • 1 or more years of Athletic Training experience at the NCAA Division III or Division II level
