    William & Mary (W&M) is a Division-1 FCS institute located in Williamsburg, Virginia that sponsors 23 intercollegiate athletic programs who compete in the Colonial Athletic Conference. The Sports Medicine Department at W&M is seeking applications for one (1) Associate Athletic Trainer.

    Position Summary:

    Associate Athletic Trainers are responsible for assisting with the health care and performance of football student-athletes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Work on a multidisciplinary team providing the highest possible standard of care for student-athletes while following sports medicines’ best practices and NCAA guidelines.

    Coordinate/oversee/conduct CPR, OSHA, Adult Professional Rescuer, and Sports Safety Training certification courses for staff, students, and coaches; design, implement, and conduct continuing education programs for the Sports Medicine staff/conduct at least three Board of Certification Continuing Education Units (BOC CEU) in-service meetings per semester.

    Direct the recruitment and retention of undergraduate athletic training aides and assist with the evaluation and involvement of student workers in the department.

    Support Sports Medicine outreach programs including alumni relations and fundraising activities. Maintain university resources/equipment including AEDs, vehicles, athletic library resources, etc. Review medical transcriptions for accuracy; coordinate the documentation of clearances; complete all follow-up evaluations; and coordinate final review with physicians and staff.

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

    Several years of experience (typically, 3-5 years of experience) directly related to the position working in the collegiate, professional, and/or clinical field of Sports Medicine.

    Experience using current manual therapy, modality, and rehabilitation techniques. Experience utilizing an electronic medical records system.

    Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills. CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and the Healthcare Provider certification.

    BOC (Board of Certification) Certified.

    Valid driver’s license and two years of driving experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in a field related to the position such as physical therapy, sports medicine or health sciences.

    Significant experience working in a college and/or professional environment with football athletes in the field of Sports Medicine.

    Certification in manual therapies and/or instrument-assisted therapies such as dry needling.

    Community First Aid Instructor.
