    Job Description: 

    This role, under the general supervision of the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine, is responsible for: 

    • Independent care and management of injuries and illnesses related to participation in intercollegiate athletics
    • Coordinating and implementing injury prevention programs and customized preventative strategies to patients and assigned teams
    • Minimizing injury risk through education of patients and teams
    • Recommending accommodations for patients with functional or athletic limitations
    • Communicating with physicians, coaching staff and other involved university personnel regarding the medical status of patients
    • Carrying out medical care for assigned teams in accordance with recognized standard of care
    • Initiating and maintaining thorough and detailed electronic documentation of all patient encounters
    • Travel with assigned team (men's basketball)
    • Point of contact for AU Spirit program.
    • Administrative and other duties as assigned by Assistant AD Sports Medicine 

    Qualifications:

    • Required:
      • Master’s Degree
      • BOC Certification
      • CPR/AED Certification
      • NPI Number
      • Demonstrated independent management of athletic injuries and rehabilitation
      • Must have knowledge of a large range of medical problems, assessment techniques and evaluation skills
      • Ability to think critically and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions is essential
      • The ability to communicate effectively in high stress/pressure situation when talking to patients, medical professionals, staff and families is critical
      • Proven ability to interact effectively with other AT staff and the medical community
      • Must have the ability to organize, prioritize and perform multiple tasks with little or no supervision
    • Preferred:
      • 1-2 years of experience working in NCAA setting
      • 1-2 years experience working in NCAA Division I setting
      • Experience working with basketball
      • Experience with administrative tasks such as inventory management and/or insurance coordinating
