    POSITION SUMMARY:

    Reporting directly to the Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine or designee, this position's primary responsibility is to perform a variety of duties involved in the evaluation, treatment, care and rehabilitation of USF student athletes, while adhering to all NCAA, Conference, state, and institutional rules and regulations. Determines initial action/medical care or protocol to be followed.  Administers treatment and rehabilitation to injured athletes under the direction of the team physician. Requires travel and attendance to all home and away team practices and games for assigned intercollegiate sport(s). Develops injury prevention programs, which may include operating therapeutic modalities and rehab equipment. Develops and implements reconditioning exercises, fitness programs and educates student athletes to avoid injuries. Serves as a liaison between coaches, parents, doctors, athletes, athletic trainers, departmental staff and the university to resolve problems and/or address concerns relative to the student athlete's injury or illness. Supervises students that are part of the Athletic Training Education Program at USF or other institutions where applicable.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provides immediate health care and rehabilitative care to assigned athletes. Provides prevention and treatment for athletic injuries.  Supervises the rehabilitation protocol of injured athletes as prescribed by the team physician and instructs the athlete in proper rehabilitation procedures.   Travels with and provides support to athletes.  Assists with pre-season physical examinations and physical fitness screening.

    Supervises athletic training student(s) that are part of the Athletic Training Education Program at USF or other programs with affiliations.  Serves as a liaison between coaches, parents, doctors, athletes, athletic trainers, departmental staff and the university to resolve problems and/or address concerns relative to the student athlete's injury.

    Maintains medical files on assigned athletes including records of injuries, illnesses and treatment provided to student athletes.  Assists with issues concerning insurance.  Performs administrative functions related providing health care for student athletes as needed, including but not limited to: inventory, scheduling, maintenance, facility care, and insurance

    Ensures all assigned tasks are in compliance with department, University, Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations.  Maintains NATA certification, state license, and CPR certification.
