    Position: Director of Sports Medicine

    Department: Athletics

    The University of Pikeville is currently seeking a Director of Sports Medicine for its Athletic Department. The Director of Sports Medicine will oversee and perform the athletic training duties required for multiple sports teams of the University of Pikeville by performing the following responsibilities:

    Responsibilities:

    1. Provide coverage for athletic practice sessions and game events, both home and away.

    2. Assign sport coverage for the sports medicine department ensuring that each sport has adequate coverage at all events.

    3. Supervise work-study and scholarship students helping in the sports medicine department.

    4. Recruitment of scholarship students to assist the sports medicine department.

    5. Maintain the sports medicine rooms as needed in order to provide the best sports medicine experience possible for our student athletes.

    6. Perform administrative duties as needed.

    7. Other duties as assigned.

    Relationships:

    Position requires daily contact with athletic trainers, director of athletics, student workers, athletes, parents, school administrators, other coaches, physical therapists, doctors, and doctor office staff in order to share information about the athletic program of the University of Pikeville. These relationships are maintained through e-mail, telephone, and person-to-person contact.

    Education/Skill Requirements:

    • Master's degree or higher in Athletic Training.
    • Certified by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers.
    • Must be familiar with operating modalities and sports-related equipment, e.g., e-stim/ultrasound machine, ice machine, whirlpool, water boys.
    • Must be self-sufficient.
    • Must be able to manage and direct the sports medicine staff.
    • Must have excellent communication skills.
    • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
    • Must be able to perform simple calculations.
    • Must be familiar with conducting research on the Web, as well as creating online travel arrangements.
