The University of Virginia's College at Wise invites applications for a Head Athletic Trainer. UVA Wise is a four year liberal arts college located in the mountains of southwestern Virginia, and is a division of the University of Virginia. The College is a NCAA Division II school, competing in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC). Duties of the position include:
- Supervise a small or large staff team and provide athletic training support for intercollegiate athletics. Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, coaching and managing performance.
- Provide athletic training services including testing, evaluation, assignment for training regimens, treatment of injuries, rehabilitation and medical referrals. Coordinate team physicals and activities of team physician.
- Collaborate with coaching staff in developing conditioning, weight training and nutrition programs for athletes. Advise coaching staff as to daily medical status of injured players. Collaborate with physicians and other medical personnel on referrals and the return of injured student athletes to full participation status.
- Maintain established safety standards.
- Develop and approve effective policies and procedures for the unit to ensure compliance with safety standards, policies, and procedures.
- Determine personnel needs for appropriate coverage all sports.
- Monitor expenses, analyze cost projections and trends, identify resource allocation, and maintain a balanced budget.
- In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is required with a master's degree preferred. BOC is required, as well as Virginia state licensure eligibility. Significant experience as an athletic trainer is also required.
