    Western Oregon University invites applicants for a one year Athletic Training Internship (10 month appointment, 0.833 FTE), unclassified position in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. The Athletics department sponsors 13 intercollegiate sports for over 400 student-athletes. Western Oregon University is a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) and the NCAA Division II.


     Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training, Health, Exercise Science, or related field

     Current NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer

     Oregon State Registration, or be eligible for registration in the State of Oregon as an Athletic Trainer

    Preferred Qualifications:

     Master’s degree in Sports Medicine or similar field of study

     Graduate Assistantship providing athletic training service at the collegiate level

    **A criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment

    We are not considering candidates who require Visa sponsorship support. Additionally, the University typically only considers visa support for employees placed in specialized positions that are continuing regular University appointments.


     Assist with providing medical service to men's & women's basketball, baseball, softball, women’s volleyball, women’s soccer, and cheer teams.

     Documentation of injury records and reporting, maintaining FERBA and HIPPA requirements

     Collaborate with the team physician and other allied health-care professionals

     Articulate with administrators, coaches, parents, and student-athletes within appropriate medical/legal requirements

     Organize and participate in pre-participation physical examinations

     Supervise student athletic trainer volunteers

     Perform duties as assigned and commensurate with the normal activities related to athletic training service


     Ability to work nights, weekends, occasional holidays, and travel with sports teams
