    Assistant Athletic Trainer

    The Department of Athletics at the State University of New York College at Oneonta invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time, 100% athletic training, ten-month position, with an immediate start date. Expectations are to develop exemplary scholar-athletes who strive for competitive excellence, academic achievement, and a commitment to service.

    SUNY Oneonta is a public college in Central New York, enrolling about 6,500 students in bachelor’s, master’s and graduate certificate programs. Most of SUNY Oneonta’s main campus lies within the City of Oneonta, which is located in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, about a four-hour drive from New York City, Boston and Philadelphia. With a population just shy of 14,000, the City of Oneonta is the largest municipality in a rural region dominated by agriculture and tourism.

    Duties include but not limited to: assisting in all day-to-day operations of the athletic training area within the Athletic Department which will include providing expert athletic injury evaluation and documentation; developing, implementing and documenting athletic injury rehabilitation programs and strength and conditioning programs; overseeing facilities, daily athletic team practice preparation and coverage; knowledge and enforcement of intercollegiate Athletics Department rules and regulations; participation in student development initiatives of the intercollegiate Athletics Department; and coverage of home and away contests for 21 varsity intercollegiate athletic teams.

    Required qualifications:  bachelor’s degree; current NATABOC certification; current CPR and AED certifications; NYS registration or registration eligible; and a valid driver’s license.

    Preferred:  CSCS or other strength coach certification; CPR/AED instructor certified; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
