Reporting to the Director of Athletics, the Head Athletic Trainer provides leadership for the department and is responsible for prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for the university's 16 NCAA Division I sports.
Manages a comprehensive athletic training program that places the safety of all student-athletes as the highest priority. Takes steps/performs activities to prevent, treat and rehabilitate athletic injuries, with direct daily oversight of the Men's Basketball and Men's Golf programs. Communicates with and informs senior staff and/or head coaches about any and all concerns associated with student-athlete welfare. Manages the athletic training budget, maintains a comprehensive knowledge of medical insurance and oversees all athletic training equipment. Serves as liaison to physicians and other health professionals.
Required qualifications
Master's degree in athletic training or related field; at least five years of athletic training experience, preferably at the college level; NATABOC certification and eligibility for South Carolina Department of Health & Environmental Control certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience and experience working with men's basketball and men's golf student-athletes.
Follow all institutional, Big South Conference and NCAA rules, policies and bylaws. Communicate effectively and work well with students, parents, faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds
