    Description

    The Murray State University Department of Athletics is seeking two (2) motivated individuals to serve the athletic training department as a graduate assistant athletic trainers assisting in the coverage of a Division I (FCS Football) athletic program. Start date is August 1, 2021. Primary team assignments are so ball and volleyball, with secondary assignment of assisting in other areas as needed.

    The preferred graduate program for athletic department graduate assistants is the Master of Science in Human Development and Leadership (HDL) in the College of Education and Human Services. More information about this program can be found HERE. Many of our former graduate assistants have found this degree to be rewarding and helpful in their future academic and professional pursuits. Most of the HDL program's requirements and coursework is completed in an online format which allows for our graduate assistants to work and travel with their teams without the stress of missing classes.

    Requirements
    Minimum Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
    • BOC certification or eligible (Prefer certification prior to start date)
    • Eligibility for certification/licensure in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
    • Certification in CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer
    • Admission into the Graduate School at Murray State University
    • Reliable transportation

    Preferred:

    • Undergraduate/post-graduate experience with so ball or volleyball
    • Ability to work independently
    • Strong communication and organizational skills
    • Experience with electronic health record keeping (Presagia-InjuyZone Preferred)

    Job Repsonsibilities:

    • Team athletic training coverage to include practices, conditioning sessions, weight training sessions and home and away contests (Travel will be required)
    • Coverage of the main athletic training facility on a rotating basis with co-workers
    • Assist with maintenance of electronic health record keeping system
    • Other duties as assigned by the full-time athletic training staff

    Compensation:

    • In-state tuition for 6 hours of graduate coursework per semester (summer class assistance is possible but is not guaranteed) (GA candidates with a 3.0 undergraduate GPA will qualify for in-state tuition status. Candidates with under a 3.0 GPA will have out-of-state tuition status and will be expected to pay the difference between in-state and out-of-state tuition until a 3.0 GPA is achieved in graduate school)
    • $10,000 stipend (9 months)
    • Opportunity for summer camp coverage for additional compensation
