    Stephen F. Austin State University, an NCAA Division I institution (FCS in Football) and a member of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC), is accepting applications for two (2) Intern - Assistant Athletic Trainer’s. This is a 10-month appointment which reports to the Director of Sports Medicine.


    Responsibilities: Successful candidates will be able to assist with the supervision, coordination, and implementation of the University’s overall sports medicine program, including, but not limited to: injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of injuries, short-term and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries. This individual will have direct oversight and medical care of assigned sports to include all practice and travel responsibilities. Other responsibilities of the assistant athletic trainer include but are not limited to: keeping accurate and current medical records for assigned sports and administrative duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.



    -  Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate area of specialization.

    -  Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).

    -  Licensed in the state of Texas or eligible / CPR/AED certification.

    -  Must be have NATA BOC certification to be considered for the position.

    Preferred Qualifications: 

    -  Division I college athletics and preferred.

    -  Spirit/Cheer and or Track & Field/Cross Country experience.



    -  $15,000 - $22,000 annually. This position will also pay all state licensure fee’s and NATA dues. On and off campus CEU opportunities are a part of this compensation package.


    Start Date/Application Deadline:   

    Spirit Position: on or after June 1, 2021  

    Track & Field/Cross Country: on or after August 1, 2021

    Deadline for Application: Open until filled


    Employment is conditional on a successful background check.  A valid driver’s license is also required.
