Mission and Objectives
Mission Statement
The College Athletic Trainers' Society is founded to provide high quality care to our student-athletes; to foster a close working relationship with organizations whose interests are to promote intercollegiate athletics; and to address the needs and concerns of full-time head and assistant athletic trainers at colleges and universities.
Objectives
- Establish formal relationships with organizations that promote intercollegiate athletics.
- Establish formal relationships with collegiate directors of athletics and/or other institutional entities that employ full-time college and university athletic trainers.
- Assist profit and non-profit organizations involved in research and public service; especially related to injury prevention and performance of the intercollegiate athlete.
- Establish criteria for interaction and sharing information with professional sports organizations and teams.
Provide educational materials and programs for college and university athletic trainers on issues relative to:
- Risk management
- Legal/liability issues
- Budget/finance
- Employment issues
- Hiring
- Job security
- Salary/benefits
- Time management
- Athletic trainer professionalism
- Institutional policies
- Standards for athletic trainers
- Needs and concerns of collegiate athletic trainers
